Volunteer Your Time During our Grand Opening Celebration!Calling all volunteers! CMFDL is currently seeking volunteers to assist during our Grand Opening celebration, August 19-24! Volunteers are especially needed to assist with our special tile art project, which will be available all week. If you have an hour or two to spare, please contact Wendy at 929.0707 or Wendy.cmfdl@sbcglobal.net. Thank you! Support the Museum: Become a Volunteer! Our volunteers keep our organization running strong! Our volunteers are invaluable to our efforts and have truly helped to make the Children's Museum what it is today. In fact, from 2002 to 2005, nearly 100% of the efforts of the Children's Museum were volunteer driven. Volunteering your time at the museum is both rewarding and fun. We are always looking to add volunteers to our team of supporters. Here are just a few of the ways our volunteers support our mission: |
|
- Community Support - Volunteers in this category assist with our participation in community events such as the Kids Expo, Fondue Fest, The YMCA's Healthy Family Day and the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Individuals with a limited amount of time to give find this type of volunteer effort fits easily into their schedules while still supporting the museum!
- Day-to-Day Support - Volunteers in this category spend their time volunteering at the museum as they assist on the museum floor in playing with the children, tidying up the exhibits and making sure each guest has an enjoyable trip around the world. From time to time these volunteers also lend a hand by rolling up their sleeves and assisting in cleaning the museum. Whether you have an hour a month or an hour a week of your time to give, we are always looking for volunteers of this variety!
- CMFDL Committees - Serving on a committee is a fantastic way to share your talents and passion for the museum while focusing in on a specific area of expertise! Our committees generally meet every two months as needed. We invite you to consider serving on one of our following committees:
- Exhibits Committee - This committee works to maintain the high quality of exhibits and programs you have come to love and expect from CMFDL. Through the efforts of this committee, we strive to enhance the educational experience of each museum guest! For more information on this committee, please click on the "Exhibits Committee" heading to the left.
- Young at Heart Committee - Party planners unite! This committee works tirelessly to organize our annual Young at Heart fundraisers, held in April of each year. Plans are already well underway for 2009's event! If you like a good party, this is the committee for you!
- Finance Committee - Members on this committee review the organization's financials and assist in the budgeting process. This committee is also consulted for other finance and accounting related matters. If you have an eye for numbers, we want you!
- Grants Committee - A large portion of funding for our events and programs is through the generous support and contributions received from different grants. Members on this committee help in researching different grant opportunities ideal for the museum.
- Human Resources Committee - Those individuals who serve on this committee work to ensure that our staff is adequately cared for! This committee also assists with the hiring process of our management team, in addition to approving and updating our employee handbook.
- Advisory Council - This is a group of persons that meets one or two times a year to provide advice to the museum's staff and its Board of Directors about stragtegic decisions.
- Board of Directors - This group meets every other month and works to keep our organization running smoothly. For more information about our Board of Directors, click on the link below.
